15/10/12 - Acquisition - Birmingham, Museum and Art Gallery – Le Portrait du Dr. John Ash par Joshua Reynolds, en dépôt depuis 1994 à l’Art Gallery de Birmingham, a définitivement intégré les collections grâce à son acquisition récente par le musée.
L’œuvre fut commandée en 1788 par les administrateurs du General Hospital de Birmingham et trôna dans la salle de conseil, puis devint propriété du Queen Elizabeth Hospital Charity qui souhaitait s’en séparer. Estimé 900 000 livres, il fut finalement acquis 875 000 livres par l’Art Gallery. Fidèle au poste, l’Art fund a versé…
