2/9/15 - Acquisition - Ontario, Kingston, Agnes Etherington Art Centre - Fuyant la famine, les époux Naomi et Elimélech quittèrent la Judée pour s’installer au pays de Moab. Or, Naomi perdit son mari, puis ses deux fils, et décida de retourner à Bethléem. Elle dit à ses belles-filles moabites, Orpa et Ruth, de rentrer chez leur mère. Orpa s’en alla, mais Ruth refusant de la laisser, l’accompagna dans son pays et se convertit au judaïsme : «Où tu iras j’irai, où tu demeureras je demeurerai ; ton peuple sera mon peuple et ton Dieu sera mon Dieu ». L’histoire est tirée du Livre de Ruth dans l’Ancien Testament…
