A Neapolitan Baroque sketch for Beauvais
21/12/23 - Acquisition - Beauvais, Musée départemental de l’Oise - The Musée départemental de l’Oise has recently revived a policy it largely followed a few decades ago. Under the impetus of Louvre curators such as Michel Laclotte, Arnauld Brejon de Lavergnée and Jacques Foucart, the museum acquired a number of old paintings, including several Italian Baroque works, thanks in particular to war damage. A sketch by a 17th-century Neapolitan painter (ill. 1), Nicola Maria Rossi, has thus just been purchased from the Amiens dealer Stéphane Grodée.
