Un tableau de Mola offert au Metropolitan
16/11/20 - Acquisition - New York Metropolitan Museum - Caïn tua son frère parce que Dieu aima son offrande plus que la sienne. L’épisode fut représenté par Pier Francesco Mola dans un tableau qui a été offert au Metropolitan Museum par Alan M. May, en mémoire de son épouse, à l’occasion du 150e anniversaire du musée en cette année 2020 (ill. 1). Il fut présenté dans la galerie de Jean-Luc Baroni en 2016. L’œuvre rejoint dans les collections plusieurs dessins du maître ainsi qu’une huile sur cuivre illustrant Le Repos pendant la fuite en Egypte.
