28/5/18 - Acquisition - Williamstown, Clark Art Institute (Massachusetts) - En sacrifiant ses fils à la jeune République romaine, Brutus fut un exemple de vertu qui inspira bien plus tard les philosophes des Lumières et les fondateurs de la République française. Lui qui mena la révolte de 509 avant J-C pour renverser le dernier roi de Rome fut en effet contraint de condamner à mort ses propres enfants qui se trouvaient parmi les conspirateurs désireux de restaurer la monarchie.
