12/9/13 - Acquisition - Fort Worth, the Amon Carter Museum of American Art - Sargent ne mit pas son talent de portraitiste uniquement au service des femmes, en témoigne l’effigie d’Edwin Booth (1833-1893), que l’Amon Carter Museum de Fort Worth, spécialisé dans l’art américain, a récemment acquise. Booth fut l’un des comédiens américains les plus célèbres de son temps ; son frère, acteur lui aussi, est davantage connu aujourd’hui pour être l’assassin de Lincoln.
Le tableau fut commandé en 1890 par les membres du Players’ Club, à New York, un cercle d’acteurs et de professionnels de l’art, fondé…
