20/2/14 - Acquisition - Orlando, Museum of Art - Il voulait « peindre le rythme de l’éternité », saisir la « chose infinie », tout simplement. Rockwell Kent se forma à New York auprès de William Merritt Chase puis de Robert Henri, avant de prendre le large vers des contrées lointaines, sur les conseils de Robert Henri qui l’encouragea à partir pour Monhegan Island (Maine) en 1905, il y resta cinq ans.

C’est un tableau réalisé sur cette île qui vient d’être offert par les Friends of American Art au Orlando Museum of Art, acheté à la galerie new-yorkaise Michael Altman Fine Art & Advisory Services. Deux…
