Grandeur nature ou presque, un bronze de William Theed l’Ancien a été acquis en 2012 par le Metropolitan auprès de la galerie Tomasso Brothers Fine Art. Il représente Téthis assise dans une coquille rapportant de la forge de Vulcain l’armure de son fils Achille. Elle semble désespérée tandis que, dans les flots, le Triton tire avec peine la coquille.
