7/4/16 - Acquisition - Édimbourg, Scottish National Portrait Gallery - C’est un portrait historique que vient d’acquérir la Scottish National Portrait Gallery d’Edimbourg : peint par l’un des grands portraitistes écossais du XVIIIe siècle, Allan Ramsay, il représente Charles Édouard Stuart (1720-1788), surnommé «Bonnie Prince Charlie» (bonnie signifiant beau) ou « le jeune prétendant».
Né à Rome, il est le fils du prince Jacques François Stuart, alors en exil, et le petit-fils du roi Jacques II d’Angleterre qui fut renversé en 1688. Bonnie Prince Charlie…
