22/4/09 – Acquisition – Boston, Museum of Fine Arts – Ce musée vient d’acheter, auprès de James Harvey British Art à Londres, un très beau portrait d’Adèle Romany (ill.),qui était passé en vente chez Sotheby’s Paris le 19 juin 2007 (pour 30 000 € hors frais).

Elève de Jean-Baptiste Regnault, Adèle Romany est, avec Marie-Denise Villers, Jeanne-Elisabeth Chaudet ou Marie-Guillelmine Benoist, l’une de ces nombreuses femmes peintres actives au début du XIXe siècle autour de la figure plus connue d’Elisabeth Vigée-Lebrun.
