A new Tiffany stained glass window for the Metropolitan Museum

20/12/23 - Acquisition - New York, The Metropolitan Museum - A new monumental stained glass window (ill. 1) has been added to the Metropolitan Museum’s reference collection of pieces produced by Tiffany Studios. From the collection of Alan Gerry, it was purchased thanks to his generosity and the support of various funds and donors. It will be displayed from November 2024 in the Charles Engelhard courtyard of the American Wing, which will be celebrating its centenary. It will be presented alongside other exceptional pieces associated with the American Art Nouveau glass factory, the mosaic columns that adorned Laurelton Hall, Louis Comfort Tiffany’s country house at Oyster Bay, which was the subject of an exhibition at the Metropolitan in 2006[[Louis Comfort Tiffany and Laurelton Hall.
